FREE Kindle Books for Thursday, October 16th
I have found some really fun free Kindle books today on Amazon.com. Some of these I knew were perfect for me as soon as I saw them! Always double check the price before downloading Kindle books to make sure they are still free. Happy Reading!
The Dump Cake Diet Umm, yeah, this is a diet I can love! However, this would be why I really need all the real diet books. Even though there is a price listed below, I downloaded this for free AFTER this posting. So, just be sure to double check the price.
Homesteading Handbook: Volume 1 The Beginner's Guide to Becoming Self-Sustaining
I love learning about how people used to homestead, grow all their own food, make things and survive. Maybe if I read enough of these I'll convince myself to try more of it? There is always hope. And, it would be good to know a lot of these skills for whenever unexpected emergencies, life changes or disaster strikes.
The Ultimate Toddler Manual
Oh, I can really use this book right about now! Don't we all wish kids came with a manual? Well, here you go! Again, I just downloaded this for free even though the link below lists a price.
Minimalism for Moms
Anything to help us moms and grandmas keep things more organized and together is always worth the read!
Romey's Place: A Novel
And sometimes, we just need something fictional to read to get away for a few minutes.

Less is More
I'm finding an interesting phenomenon in my life lately. I've noticed I've been writing less about fun stuff to have in our homes and more about getting rid of stuff. I personally gotten rid of truckloads of crap. And you know what, I don't miss any of it. Actually, when I had to name it off for the garage sale add, I couldn't remember what was in the pile.
I've been reading lots of articles about minimalism, decluttering, organizing, etc. After a slight disaster in our house this week, I've discovered the benefits of minimalism and getting rid of stuff. We literally didn't do any housework for a week except a few loads of dishes. And, the house didn't fall apart. We have less stuff which means there's less things to make messes with.
I've been sharing lots of articles, blog posts and pictures on Facebook about the fun new lifestyle were trying. So, I've decided to revamp this blog. Welcome to learning more about simplicity and the fun things in life that really matter.

Why I am Moving Towards Minimalism
Littlest and I are having fun playing on the floor today. Or should I say he
enjoys climbing on me and playing with his toys. This is a picture of
pretty much all the toys in his room. There aren't a ton. Just enough
for him to play and have fun. And, not lots for mom to clean up. He can
easily help clean up his own room. Which leaves us more time for the
fun things in life – like play.
This
journey actually started last August. The kids and I have been wanting
to move for awhile so that we could have neighbors and not as much
yard work. I got some free moving boxes from a lady off a Facebook
group. I then spent a month going through the house and boxed anything I
didn't think we'd use in the next three months, hoping to make the house
less cluttered for showing.
What
really ended up happening, was we never found a house we liked and
never moved. I did discover, though, that the house was easier to keep
clean. I had boxed up 47 boxes of miscellaneous
items.
Then
came the introduction to 40 Bags in 40 Days Declutter Challenge. We
decided we liked having less stuff to have to pick up and take care of.
So, I joined the challenge to get rid of more. As of halfway through
the challenge, we have gotten rid of 30 boxes of things we
don't need. Ten of those boxes were items from the 47 boxes that we
hadn't touch since last August.
The
journey is ongoing and I still have more to go through. We haven't
even touched the garage or the barn yet. My kids clothes are being
gone through again today. The office just scares me but desperately needs done.
What's
my goal in all of this you might ask? To spend more time with my kids
doing fun things while they're still here at home with us instead of
cleaning and organizing everything on our vacation days. My goal this
summer is to have fun and not spend all day trying to get the kids to do
chores and pick up things they got out. We are on our way to a
minimalist lifestyle and doing the things we love with the people we love. Our possessions no longer own us.
